Prickly Pear Cactus seeds are very hard, containing less than 5% oil. In fact, it takes 1,000 kilos (1 tonne) of cactus fruit to make just one litre of pure oil. This is why genuine, pure, seed-only oil is one of the most expensive oils in the world.

Handmade Oil Using Traditional Berber Techniques

Our authentic, virgin cactus seed oil is entirely handmade from start to finish using a traditional process. First, the cactus fruits are hand-selected at just the right ripeness. Next, the seeds are extracted from the pulp and slowly dried in the sun until the moisture content is perfect.

After this, a gentle hand-toasting of the cactus seeds is performed. This step significantly increases the content of volatile compounds that give the oil its unique smell, flavour, and nutrient composition. Finally, the oil is extracted using a low-heat screw press process followed by filtration or sedimentation to purify the oil from solid plant material.

How to Use Cactus Seed Oil

This bottle is supplied with a pipette dropper for ease of application. Just 6 to 8 drops will normally be enough to treat the facial area.
This bottle contains around 240 drops and should typically last about 4 to 6 weeks.

For the best anti-aging regimen, we recommend using pure Argan Oil as an all-over facial treatment. Then, apply Prickly Pear Oil as an intensive treatment to target lines and wrinkles around the eye area, mouth, and forehead. Simply apply with your fingertips and massage into the areas you want to treat.

How to Spot Genuine Handmade Cactus Seed Oil

Genuine, pure prickly pear oil should have a medium golden to green colour, a rich fatty texture, and a definite fragrance—slightly toasted, floral, and sweet.

By comparison, an industrially harvested oil, often advertised as “Moroccan Oil” but sourced from South America, has little to no smell and a lighter colour.
